I can confirm that myself and some others have been having this issue as well. They seem to last a bit longer than a "typical" spike would:

Thanks, I'll get on tonight and see, and hopefully a restart is all it needs.

Reporting back: It seemed to be okay for a little bit after the restart however the ping spikes persist

Possibly the last hop, local to chicago, so it would be common for all, is having some troubles:

If you could do a tracert to see your hops, that could provide some insight.

It could just be that this hop is ignoring ICMP requests, if I recall correctly a traceroute in Windows defaults to using ICMP and not UDP, though I could be wrong.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help and thanks for taking the time to investigate

Here is some plausible speculation? Notice your last hop just before the server times out, same as mine. It is a hop local to chicago so that we'd both be hitting the same hop before getting to the server? And the other players using the same hop?. That's probable. The fact it is timing out would be a contributor to ping slowness/spikes (?).

Another point, notice your third last hop, 38.88.57.226, if I look that up, the location is Florida. Not exactly the fastest route to go from Quebec to Chicago via Florida. That happens sometimes with the routing tables, they get out of date as to what the shortest route is.

I'll restart the server tonight again anyways. There is a map I accidentally put in the rotation, I need to swap it out.

Good points you raise there, it shouldn't be routing me through florida, that's just a useless detour. I'm tempted to connect to a chicago VPN and see if I get better routing. I'll keep you posted if I find anything relevant.
