Should I remove all the custom bot models/skins?

Please answer the poll up top.

The point of removing all the custom bot packages would be to greatly slim down the number of downloads a new person would have to do before they can start playing. I thought I could experiment to see if this increased traffic at all.

Hopefully the regulars could vote, as they play the most. 21, Keller, Moonskin, and lately Bob, and myself.

Thanks.

Nope... although, winter is coming.

Perhaps you could give some of those scantily dressed bots some heavier sweaters.

I vote yes remove but it is up to you if the traffic doesn't improve in a couple months time, then add them back.  I know it is frustrating running a server and you want all these cool things in it that you like but I learned that  players have complained about the downloads and what not, oh the joy of being a Server admin.  Smiley see ya this weekend.

I have removed all the custom skins. We'll see how it goes.

I like them and now with high speed everywhere people should not complain. Worse, you should not complain! You want traffic but you don't want to be noticed too much at the same time? LOL.

I like the skins and stuff. I doubt they are a traffic stopper. We'll see. Good luck with this test.

I like them too. I know people pop in now and then, but how many attempt to, but get tired of all the downloads and disconnect? We shall see.

Yes, thanks, I never would have thought it would have had such an impact, but the number of people popping in is way up. And some repeat visits from some folks too, that would super to hook more regulars.

It's also very sad because I weely like all those bot personalities Smiley

Oh well. A populated server wins out.

Really? I'm shocked but very well. I know it was a major factor in the old days but I didn't think it mattered now. I was wrong I guess.

The most complaints I have heard are due to THe downloads/the bots and maps.

I get a good number of players disconnecting even from my {CMM} server right in the middle of their Downloading.
I bet I would have 50% to 100% more players if the downloads were a lot less. Undecided
I have to think of some things to take off maybe???

In the logs, at GameServers anyway - it shows each request by the player logging in.
The server "allows" each request - or not and it names what file is requested by the player.
Then it will say something like player disconnected or closed connection sometimes right in the middle of known downloads.
Did I explain that OK??? (tired) Tongue

kewl I didn't know that. If I had known that, I may have checked it a long time ago and removed the models earlier.

Helen, you are cracking me up. LOL You want the server to kick but but you don't want to advertise it too much but you'll modify it it get more players but etc etc.

No need to explain. It is your butt kickin server and you have your reasons. You know you already told me some of them and yes I do recall and understand etc.

It still makes me giggle in a confused sort of way. It this when I say "Meh" ?

I didn't sign up here to have to explain myself y'know. Oh it's my forum  Smiley

I can be too logical for my own good. A bad person targeting my server would not let an x amount of downloads deter them, therefore removing skins or not is irrelevant to that person! An innocent UT player looking to try a new server, WOULD get deterred by excess downloads, therefore by removing the excess downloads I am increasing the chances of getting this type of player!

I know that makes sense to me because I ran it by myself and it made sense both times Smiley

I haven't been on your games in awhile but if you still do have custom skins, can I add one for me?
