Yesterday my host changed the operating system on the mountain server.
Also yesterday my laptop that downloads/uploads the game stat pages was frozen.
Coincidence? Not!

When all the previous stat files were restored on the new OS, they all lost their original file date. So they all had a file date of "yesterday". My download program was looking for new files to download with a file date younger than the last download date. And that turned out to be...  ALL of them.

So my program would start downloading over 65,000 files.
This may have finished eventually, but the program is scheduled to do the download every half hour, so it would start the next download prior to the other one finishing.
Eventually it would freeze.

That's my little story for today.

That's actually quite a cool little loop!  I have also seen this with high transfer capacity FTP server transfers, I have also had a Windows XP virtual machine in windowed mode pop up infinite Windows over eachother and it looked like a pretty cool piece of modern art
