Been playing the last couple days on my old Win98se computer upgraded from 600mhz to a 1ghz pIII 384mb ram and a 3dfx voodoo 5 card. Love the look of UT in Glide. And this was a bmp converted to jpeg

Glide was the proprietary renderer from 3DFX. I think they were first to market with a 3d accelerator card back in the day.
Unreal and UT were primarily programed with 3dfx's glide renderer in mind. As matter of fact the first demo release of UT was for 3DFX cards only. I still have this demo. D3D came out a little later.
So for that reason the game looks awesome on 3dfx cards. But my frame rates are suffering big time. So I will be switching back shortly, but it's fun to mess around with the old stuff !

I have lots of Voodoo cards. I love them all! Yes, When UT was made, it was designed for 3DFX.

Your not really playing Glide with a wrapper, "A Glide wrapper is a piece of code that will convert all Glide API calls passed through it into OpenGL or Direct3D which most graphics cards use". A wrapper was used to play glide games on non-glide cards. A lot of games in the day were glide only, so a wrapper was used so you didn't have run out and buy a voodoo card. No need to use a wrapper on games that support opengl and d3d. But for games developed for glide, a voodoo card was a good choice. In my opinion the look of the game is much better in glide.

Yes it looks great in glide. I recall now the wrappers. I never used them. I always had a voodoo card!

I tried Open GL a couple times on several of my voodoo cards. Let me just say.....don't do it. It is awful.

Voodoo ruled because the card did all of the work so you could put a good voodoo card in the worst of computers and play the game like you were on a awesome computer with a awesome video card.

Sadly I no longer have my Voodoo 3 or Voodoo 5 5500 AGP's Sad however I am well familier with both OpenGL & 3dfx Glide, Glide is perhaps one of the best ever & I love it dearly, so that brings me to a question, I do have an EVGA 8800GTX which is capable of running the Glide Wrapper however I am on the lookout for a Glide Wrapper not designed for Nvidia cards but for Intel based graphics, which have always had good OpenGL support but I digress, does a Glide Wrapper exist for the Intel Video Chip's?  Huh Figured the slew of Voodoo fanatics here might know something about em

I don't know, but try nGlide. It only says your graphics needs to be DirectX 9 compatible.  http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide ;  good luck.
